The service
Socratic Compass — Home is a GCSE tutoring product. It is designed not to write homework answers for the learner. 12 subjects are included: sciences (including Combined Science), Maths, Computer Science, English Language, English Literature, History, Geography, and Physical Education, on AQA, OCR, Edexcel, and iGCSE. Eduqas and A-Level are not live yet.
Who may use it
A parent or legal guardian must approve a learner before unlimited tutoring starts. Learners should be in UK school years 7 to 13. You must be able to enter into a contract under UK law to pay.
Try and billing
The learner can try the tutor without an account. A parent or guardian must approve the learner and subscribe before unlimited tutoring starts. The household is charged the published monthly rate unless you cancel. Manage or cancel billing from your parent dashboard or the billing link in your parent email. Access continues until the end of the paid period.
Accounts
Parents and learners each have their own login. A learner account can only be used for tutoring, and a parent account can only be used for the parent dashboard. Keep your login details private. A parent or guardian approves each learner once; after that the learner can sign in on any device. Parents can add a second learner, remove a learner, withdraw consent or delete household data from the dashboard. Do not share parent email links or your parent login with a child.
Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your parent dashboard or from the billing link in your parent email. When you cancel, access continues until the end of the current billing period. No further payments are taken. The 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 begins when you first subscribe and pay. If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, we will refund that payment in full. After 14 days, no refund is due for the current period, but no further charges apply once you cancel. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
Acceptable use
Do not use the tutor to harm others, to attempt to bypass safety checks, or to submit the tutor's questions as if they were unseen exam material in a live assessment. We may suspend an account that creates a safeguarding or abuse risk.
Safeguarding
Automated checks may flag language that could indicate a serious concern. An alert is a prompt to speak with your child. It is not confirmation that harm has occurred. A learner can also flag a tutor reply that felt wrong; that goes to Socratic Compass staff and does not automatically email the parent. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. Socratic Compass is not an emergency service.
Availability
We aim to keep the tutor working, but we do not guarantee that it will be available whenever a learner wants to use it. The tutor depends on our systems and on third-party AI services. It may be delayed, limited, or unavailable during busy periods, maintenance, faults, or when those services are busy or down. Trying the tutor or a paid subscription does not reserve capacity or promise a particular response time. If the tutor is unavailable, try again later. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
Limitation
The tutor supports learning. It does not replace a teacher, examiner, or clinician. We provide the service with reasonable care but do not guarantee a particular grade, and we do not guarantee continuous access to the tutor.
